The Professional Association of Banks and Financial Institutions (ABEF), the representative body of the banking profession, was established pursuant to Law No. 90-10 of April 14, 1990, repealed and replaced by Ordinance No. 03-11 of August 26, 2003, as amended and supplemented, relating to money and credit, which was subsequently repealed by Law No. 23-09 of June 21, 2023, concerning the Monetary and Banking Law. The Money and Credit Council adopted the bylaws of ABEF during its November 1992 session, which were also approved by the Ministry of the Interior and Local Authorities under number 42 on October 22, 1994.
