Algeria Enhances Grain Storage Capacities and Supports Farmers with Billions of Dollars

Algeria is set to enhance its grain storage capacities through a project to build 16 silos for the Algerian Professional Board for Grains (OAIC), expected to be delivered before the end of the first half of 2026, as part of a strategy aimed at securing a stockpile covering around nine months of national consumption and reducing direct reliance on imports. Professor Ibrahima Mouhouche, a member of the Supreme Council for Scientific Research and Technologies, confirmed during his appearance on the "Guest of the Day" program on the third Algerian radio channel that "storage represents a strategic weapon for the country, increasing Algeria's ability to deal with international market fluctuations," pointing out that the inability to store grain limits the country's margin of maneuver.
