US gold futures for February delivery rose 0.74% to $4,502.30 an ounce. Silver rose 0.19% to $69.15 an ounce, reaching an all-time high of $69.44 on Monday. Gold has risen 70% since the start of the year, surpassing the $4,400 level for the first time on Monday, while silver has risen 140% since the start of the year, outperforming gold and approaching the $70 level in the session.
