The Port of Sohar in the Sultanate of Oman recorded the success of the largest operation for transferring ammonia from one ship to another, in a step described as a maritime first that supports efforts to decarbonize the maritime shipping sector, and enhances the trend of using ammonia as a low-emission fuel. The Belgian shipping company 'Exmar' stated in a press release via its official page on the professional social network 'LinkedIn' that its medium-sized gas carrier 'Kurt Rijk', with a capacity of 38,500 cubic meters, safely discharged its full cargo of ammonia, in cooperation with 'Tramo', confirming that the operation was carried out according to the highest safety standards and approved operational protocols.
