Global LNG trade surpassed the threshold of 40 million tons for the first time in December 2025, according to the latest monthly report from the Gas Exporting Countries Forum. According to the data published in the report, global LNG imports reached a record 41.9 million tons last December, marking a 10 percent year-on-year increase, with Europe leading this growth to compensate for the decline in pipeline gas supplies, while the Asia-Pacific region also saw a recovery supported by falling prices.
