New banking measures… and broader financing for investors in 2026

The Bank of Algeria has approved new monetary measures that will enable banks to expand the financing margin directed to investors during the year 2026, by reducing the benchmark rate and lowering the mandatory reserve ratio. This step aims to enhance liquidity within the banking system, reduce financing costs, and stimulate productive investment. In light of a new reading of the economic and financial landscape, the Monetary and Banking Council of the Bank of Algeria has chosen to direct monetary policy towards greater flexibility, through a package of decisions described as stimulating for economic activity, in line with the improvement recorded in several macroeconomic indicators, foremost among them the decline in inflation rates, and with the objectives set for monetary policy for the year 2026.
