Files from the U.S. Department of Justice revealed that Charles Schwab transferred approximately $27.7 million on behalf of the late convicted financier Jeffrey Epstein to a real estate broker in Morocco, in an attempt to purchase a luxury palace in Marrakech during the ten days leading up to his arrest in 2019, including a transfer from an account that did not have sufficient funds. According to documents first published by Reuters, Schwab opened three accounts in April 2019 for companies owned by Epstein, including an account for 'Southern Trust' which was seeking to acquire the 'Palm Grove' palace.
