Algeria Enhances Associated Gas Efficiency.. Flare Reduction by More than 30%

The Tin Fouyé Tabenkort field, extending between the provinces of Illizi and Ouargla, is the first of its kind in Algeria for processing associated gas, contributing to a 36% reduction in flaring and paving the way for replicating similar models in other fields such as Ain Amenas and several fields in the Berkine area. Small projects implemented at liquefied natural gas stations have shown encouraging results, with flare reduction exceeding 30%. A report from the Energy Research Unit, which 'Echorouk Online' reviewed, revealed that Algeria recorded a limited decline in associated gas flaring by 4% in 2024, approximately 0.3 billion cubic meters, alongside a 5% decrease in oil production; however, the flaring intensity increased by 2% to exceed 19 cubic meters.
