The Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, Yassine Mahdi Walid, announced Algeria's engagement in an ambitious national program to develop grain corn cultivation, emphasizing the need to limit all sector equipment requirements and mobilize the necessary resources to ensure the success of upcoming seasons, as part of the effort to achieve national food security. The minister confirmed, during field visits to Adrar and Timimoun, the necessity of taking all measures to ensure the success of grain corn production by providing harvesting machines, dryers, and lifting trucks according to the specifications proposed by farmers, in addition to expanding cultivated areas and providing means to ensure the harvest is collected under the best conditions, while facilitating its transport to the National Office for Food Supply.
