China has announced a full tariff exemption on imports from 53 African countries that have diplomatic relations with it, in a move aimed at facilitating the entry of African products into the Chinese market and enhancing economic and trade cooperation as part of Beijing's approach to expand its openness to the continent. According to reports from official Chinese media, including the 'China Daily' newspaper and government media reports, the new policy is based on applying a zero tariff on imports coming from African countries that have diplomatic relations with China, which practically includes all African countries except for one, Eswatini, which does not have official relations with Beijing due to its recognition of Taiwan.
