Annaba Port Launches Berth Electrification Project to Reduce Pollutant Emissions

The Annaba Port Authority signed a memorandum of understanding with the Research Center for the Environment in Annaba on Monday to launch a berth electrification project using innovative technology developed by local researchers, aimed at enabling docked ships to directly receive electrical power from the berths and stop their engines during the docking period. This project is part of the energy transition policy established by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, and in implementation of the directives of the Minister of Interior, Local Communities, and Transport, Saïd Sayoud, to reduce pollutant emissions and improve energy efficiency in national ports.
