Algeria's Daily Production of Drinking Water: Official Reveals

Mouloud Hachlaf, Assistant to the CEO of the Algerian Water Desalination Company (AEC), a subsidiary of SONATRACH, revealed today, Monday, that the national production volume of drinking water currently stands at 3.7 million cubic meters per day, with seawater desalination plants covering 42% of national needs compared to 18% previously. Hachlaf confirmed in his remarks on the program 'Guest of the Day' on Algeria's third radio channel that this significant growth was achieved thanks to the first supplementary program that was received in February 2025, and the recent commissioning of five major plants, which have pumped more than 370 million cubic meters of water.
