From Oil to Electricity: Algeria Redefines Its Energy Influence in Africa

Figures and movements in Algeria's energy sector reveal a notable expansion of Algerian influence within the African continent, through a cooperation network that includes Egypt, Libya, Ivory Coast, Mozambique, Niger, Chad, and Mauritania, supported by oil, gas, and electricity projects that go beyond traditional trade exchanges towards long-term production and investment partnerships. According to a report from the specialized energy platform, a contract for the development of the Hassi Bir Rekaiz field has been signed with investments nearing one billion dollars, which includes the establishment of a central processing unit with a capacity of 31,500 barrels per day, along with facilities for processing gas and produced water, in a move that reflects the expansion of Algerian partnerships in production projects within the continent.
