Gold prices rose during trading on Friday by about $13, but remained on track for a third consecutive monthly loss, as markets awaited developments in the ceasefire between the United States and Iran. August gold futures rose by 0.3% to $4544.80 an ounce. At the same time, spot gold contracts increased by 0.5%, equivalent to about $22, to record $4514.19 an ounce. In other precious metals, spot silver contracts fell by 0.1% to $75.55 an ounce, while palladium rose by 0.6% to $1375.25, and spot platinum dropped by 0.4% to $1915.30.
