However, the picture has begun to change gradually with the entry of massive projects such as the Dangote refinery in Nigeria and Algeria's expansions through the SONATRACH complex, where the Skikda refinery is considered the second largest refinery on the continent after Nigeria's Dangote in terms of refining capacity, recording 355,000 barrels per day.
