The national insurance market achieved a turnover of 57.3 billion DZD during the first quarter of 2026, which is nearly stable compared to the same period in 2025 (+0.2 percent), despite the strong performance of car insurance, takaful insurance, and international reinsurance activities, according to a situational note from the National Insurance Council. Damage insurance companies remain the main driver of the sector with an 80.2 percent share of total production, recording a decline of 1.4 percent for nearly 2.5 million contracts signed.
