“If August 20, 1955 embodies a strategy of confrontation against the enemy's troops on the ground, August 20, 1956 marked a major turning point by developing a multidimensional strategy that created a new balance of power between the parties engaged in the battle, both in terms of planning and organization. In doing so, the National Liberation Revolution profoundly challenged the equation of the traditional colonial system, not only in Algeria but also for all oppressed peoples around the world.”
