U.S. Senate Approves Bill for Sanctions on Russia

The U.S. Senate has approved a new sweeping bill to impose sanctions on Russia, allowing for punitive tariffs on China, India, and other major buyers of Russian oil and gas, as well as extending sanctions on Iran. The legislation, championed by the late Senator Lindsey Graham, received bipartisan support and was ultimately passed by a vote of 86 to 11. Senator Darleen Graham, who was appointed to her brother's seat, said about the Russian president before the vote: 'This legislation strikes at Putin's sources of power.'
