Gas production in Algeria rises by 4% over 7 months.. and consumption hits record levels

Algeria's natural gas production increased by 4% during the first seven months of 2026, reaching 62.621 billion cubic meters, compared to 60.184 billion cubic meters during the same period last year, coinciding with a strong increase in domestic consumption, especially from the electricity generation sector. Data from the Joint Organizations Data Initiative (JODI), reported by the 'Energy' platform, showed that Algerian gas production in July rose by 3% year-on-year, reaching 8.612 billion cubic meters, compared to 8.377 billion cubic meters during the same month in 2025.
