The sub-director for the protection of forest properties at the General Directorate of Forests, Said Fritas, confirmed that forest fires in Algeria have decreased for the second consecutive year in terms of the number of fires and affected areas, noting that public authorities annually replant and restore an area equivalent to or exceeding 40,000 hectares, which is the annual rate of forest areas lost due to fires.
