The Electricity and Gas Regulatory Commission has launched the digital platform “Eltamas” dedicated to receiving and processing complaints from current and future electricity and gas consumers, allowing them to submit complaints and track their files remotely after exhausting the grievance procedures with the energy distributor. Algerian liquefied gas exports recorded a notable recovery in May 2026, reaching 1.04 million tons, compared to 0.70 million tons in April. At the same time, Algeria shipped a rare quantity of liquefied gas to the Netherlands for the first time in two years, in a move that strengthens its presence in European markets. Nourredine Salmi, head of the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies, stated that Algeria has become a prominent energy hub in Africa, with 99 percent of citizens having access to electricity, while the access rate to gas has reached 75 percent, with an electricity production capacity exceeding 27,000 megawatts, which has made the strategic plan for the sector include the goal of accessing international markets.
