South Korea raised its imports of Algerian crude oil by 77% during the first nine months of 2026, averaging 53,000 barrels per day, compared to 30,000 barrels per day during the same period in 2025, rising to second place among the largest importers of Algerian oil, after being in fifth place last year. According to data from the Energy Research Unit, Spain topped the list of the largest importers of Algerian crude oil transported by sea with an average of 64,000 barrels per day, followed by South Korea with 53,000, then France with 50,000, the United Kingdom with 43,000, and Italy with 37,000 barrels per day. The Hydrocarbons Regulatory Authority is preparing to launch a new data center in November, following the completion of the testing phase, aimed at enhancing the collection, processing, and analysis of data related to various activities in the hydrocarbons sector, and developing the authority's capabilities in monitoring and following up on operators' activities. The Chairman of the Hydrocarbons Regulatory Authority, Amine Ramini, stated that the new data center will enable the authority to elevate the level of data processing and utilization to cover the entire value chain in the hydrocarbons sector, starting from upstream oil and gas activities to the distribution of petroleum products. Khalil Hedna, Director of Information at the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies, revealed that attacks on the equipment and electrical cables belonging to SONELGAZ and their theft are witnessing a concerning escalating trend, especially copper and aluminum cables, which increases the burdens on SONELGAZ and affects the effectiveness of the electrical network. Khalil Hedna stated during his appearance this Wednesday on the program 'Guest of the Morning' on the first radio channel that the theft operations reached 1535 attacks against electrical facilities, leading to fluctuations and interruptions in the electricity supply network for citizens.
