The same source clarified that the handover ceremony between Mr. Boudeyf and his predecessor, Mr. Salah Eddine Taleb, took place yesterday, Sunday, at the headquarters of the Bank of Algeria, in the presence of senior officials of this institution. It is worth noting that Mr. Mouatassim Boudeyf previously held the position of Deputy Governor of the Bank of Algeria before his appointment at the helm of the bank.

The Bank of Algeria issued a new memorandum authorizing the funding of commercial accounts through written payment methods or cash payment, based on daily and/or weekly business volume. The memorandum from the Bank of Algeria stated: "In accordance with the applicable legislative and regulatory provisions, customer vigilance measures are taken using a risk-based approach, as was the case before the issuance of memorandum No. 02 M A M A /2025 dated December 22, 2025."

President Tebboune Ends the Duties of the Governor of the Bank of Algeria

On Sunday, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune ended the duties of the Governor of the Bank of Algeria, Salah Eddine Taleb. He appointed Deputy Governor Moctar Boudeh to serve as Acting Governor of the Bank of Algeria. In May 2022, President Tebboune appointed Salah Eddine Taleb, who previously held the position of Chairman of the Currency and Credit Council, as Governor of the Bank of Algeria, succeeding his predecessor Rostom Fadli.
