Bank of Algeria Defines Procedures for Granting Currency Exchange Rights via Bank Card

The Bank of Algeria issued a directive today, Monday, outlining the procedures for granting currency exchange rights for travel abroad via bank card. This directive, numbered 07-2026, comes in implementation of a decision by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, during his chairing of a Cabinet meeting yesterday, Sunday, which stipulated that obtaining the travel allowance should temporarily be done via a bank card, due to serious abuses that have caused a drain on hard currency, without the beneficiaries of the allowance benefiting.

Obtaining the tourism grant via a temporary bank card

The Council of Ministers, during its meeting today, Sunday, chaired by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, decided that obtaining the tourism grant will temporarily be through a bank card and will not be granted in cash to limit the recorded abuses, according to a statement from the Council of Ministers. The same source clarified that 'regarding the presentation on the tourism grant, and due to the serious abuses that caused a drain on hard currency, without the concerned parties benefiting from the travel grant, it was decided, temporarily, that obtaining it will be through a bank card and will not be granted in cash to limit the recorded abuses.'
