New Project of Italian 'B.F.' in Timimoun Province
The Italian company 'Bonifiche Ferraresi' (B.F. International) has added fodder corn to the list of crops it will produce in the agricultural area of Timimoun, which spans 36,000 hectares, due to its strategic importance. The operation will commence at the beginning of next August, while the area planted with durum wheat in the same province has reached 2,000 hectares, irrigated by fifty pivot irrigation devices. In this context, a senior Italian source connected to the project informed 'Echorouk' that given Algeria's needs for livestock feed, which is considered strategic for the country, they allocated resources in light of the authorities' efforts to reduce imports of this commodity and support breeders and farmers to increase herd numbers on one hand and provide meat on the other.
