Temporary Change in Water Distribution Program in the Western Region of Oran

The water and sanitation distribution company SEOR announced a scheduled shutdown of the 'Ras El Abed' plant on June 1, 2026, and a temporary change in the water distribution program in the western region of Oran. This is part of the periodic maintenance of the internal facilities of the seawater desalination plant Ras El Abed. The areas affected by the temporary change in the drinking water distribution program include: Ain Turk District, Boutlilis District, Ain El Bey Area, and the western part of the city of Oran.

Tizi Ouzou expects to harvest more than 5800 quintals of cork in 2026

The Forestry Directorate of Tizi Ouzou province expects to harvest about 5821 quintals of cork in 2026, a significant increase compared to the last season which recorded a production of 4029 quintals, as part of the return to the 'organized quotas' system aimed at stabilizing annual production at around 5000 quintals. Hamid Qoussem, the cork file manager at the Forestry Directorate, stated to the Algerian News Agency that the anticipated harvesting process, set to begin in the coming days, will cover 20 forest districts distributed across 12 forests in the province, with the regional rural engineering company 'Djurdjura' responsible for executing the operation, including employing seasonal labor, while harvesting workshops will be established after successful testing.
