Development of an Innovative System for Saffron Storage
The Research Center in Semiconductor Technology for Energy has developed an innovative system for saffron storage, which it intends to adapt, in the near future, for use in other agricultural crops, according to information from the center affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. This system, which has recently completed the design of its prototype, is used in a crucial stage of the saffron production chain, which involves the preservation of the bulbs of this plant from which one of the most expensive spices is extracted, as 'poor control of the preservation process can lead to losses related to early germination and deterioration of the plant material.'
