Ethiopian Airlines has officially begun implementing a project costing $12.5 billion to build what authorities say will be the largest airport in Africa upon completion in 2030, in a move aimed at meeting the accelerating growth in air transport and enhancing the aviation infrastructure in the country. The Bole International Airport will be located in the town of Bishoftu, about 45 kilometers southeast of Addis Ababa, after the state-owned airline secured the contract for the airport's design, which will include four runways.
