The Prime Minister, Saifi Gharib, chaired a government meeting this Wednesday dedicated to studying the legal framework related to the establishment of a national port authority. It is tasked with performing public service duties related to the development, maintenance, management, preservation, and protection of the public port area. The government also discussed a draft executive decree that includes the establishment of the National Council for Agricultural Mechanization and defines its tasks, organization, and management. In accordance with the directives of the President of the Republic, this draft aims to establish a national governance framework responsible for defining, coordinating, and monitoring the implementation of the national agricultural mechanization strategy. The goal is to develop agricultural mechanization in our country, modernize agricultural investments, improve productivity, and contribute to strengthening food sovereignty.

The government studied a draft executive decree that includes the establishment of the National Council for Agricultural Mechanization and defines its tasks, organization, and operation, on Wednesday according to a statement from the Prime Minister's office.

The Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to Algeria, Jorge Eduardo Warst Cali, praised Algeria's success in localizing quinoa cultivation and adapting it to local climatic conditions, considering this experience a pioneering model that reflects the efficiency of Algerian researchers and opens new horizons for enhancing scientific and agricultural cooperation between the two countries. The ambassador confirmed, during his visit to the Institute of Agricultural Sciences at Djilali Liabes University in Sidi Bel Abbes, that the results achieved in quinoa cultivation in Algeria form a solid foundation for establishing future partnerships with research institutions in Peru, including the exchange of expertise, training, and encouraging investment in the processing industries related to this crop of high nutritional and economic value.

Algeria is moving towards restructuring the UHT milk sector by adopting a new vision aimed at increasing national integration rates and enhancing local resources, allowing for a fully integrated local industry at 100%, as confirmed by the Minister of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation, Amel Abdel Latif. The minister explained that the development of this strategic sector is based on enhancing coordination among various stakeholders, especially milk producers and packaging manufacturers, to identify the actual market needs and increase local production capacities, while ensuring the provision of products that meet consumer expectations. The International Monetary Fund praised Algeria's progress in diversifying the economy and combating money laundering, emphasizing the robustness of the economic outlook for the national economy in the short term. In a statement released following the mission it sent to Algeria from June 16 to 30, as part of the 2026 consultations under Article IV, the IMF valued Algeria's efforts in diversifying the economy, particularly in the mining and agricultural sectors, encouraging it to continue reforms aimed at enhancing competitiveness and stimulating private investment.
